Default Will Student Loan Collections Forego Interest If You Pay The Principal
I have over 15,000 dollars in interest and fees on a an old student loan. I want to pay it off, but can't swallow paying all the fees. The principal is about $25,000. If I offer to pay if ALL in ONE LUMP SUM payment, how do I get them to forgive the fees/interest? Do I have to hire someone to negotiate for me or will they deal with me on this? I want this paid. What is the best approach?

Default Re: How to negotiate paying a Student Loan...?
You can try to negotiate a lower payment yourself or you can hire an attorney. Actually, there are even professional debt negotiators that can be hired.

Default Re: Student loan--collections...will they forego the interest if I pay in full?
You can ask. The worst they will do is say "no".
