Unhappy Don't Have The Lump Sum To Pay For A Ticket

I live in Santa Clara County, California.

I received a ticket for rolling thru a stop sign. I missed the deadline to pay and have received a notice to pay by september 7 2007

The problem is, I'm an unemployed single mom. I'm trying to get back on my feet but I can't seem to get a job. ? (I have 4 pennies in my wallet and there isn't anything coming in). I don't even own a car. I was borrowing a friend's car to go to a job interview when I got the ticket.

What options do I have to pay for this ticket?

I'm assuming this is a joke since nobody in his right mind would be using the internet to access this forum if his total net worth were "4 cents". Further, if that were your net worth, you wouldn't be writing in the first place...you'd be checking out dumpsters for dinner. However, just for the sake of argument, let's take a quick look at your options.

This ever increasingly socialist country of ours has bountiful offerings for people with no money, no initiative, no sense and, also, for people that are simply down on their luck...which you may be. I'd suggest you contact your local County Welfare Agency and they will most certainly offer you a great deal of advice and assistance. You live in California, as do I, and I know that our 'Golden State' offers some of the most lucrative benefits to people from all walks of life and from all countries of the world....citizens, legal immigrants and illegal aliens, alike.

If 4 cents is your true net worth, I think your traffic problem is the very least of your worries.

You can also contact the clerk of the court and inquire as to whether you can set up a payment plan. The worst they can do is say "no".

You might also get in touch with the Salvation Army. They are really good people and do a great deal of good. They can offer a lot of assistance and guidance and may be able to help you considerably.

    Hi ChuckyCheese,
It's true, I only have 4 cents. I use the library to access the internet. I wash my clothes by hand these days and walk everywhere i go. Yes, I am in dire straights but not for the reasons you think. Don't judge lest....
I know nothing about traffic law except they told me they want the entire amount by September 7. That's why I came here for advise. Thanks for trying to make me feel worse than I already do.

Aaron, Thank you for the advise. They don't seem to want to work with me with payments. Well I'll pay it when I can, I just don't know what will happen to me if I don't pay it on time.
Thank you for being so kind.

I have no idea what your circumstances are but you sound far too smart to have only 4 cents....and no immediate expectation of adding to your savings. (Just my 4 cents worth!)

You obviously also didn't like my suggestion regarding the Salvation Army; that's too bad. Regardless of what your situation is, I think there's a good chance they could help you...probably in a number of ways.
