    Default Expungement under Indiana law

I was arrested for theft (conversion)class D felony and was dropped to an A misd. back in 2001, I have read about expungements and found that a person can qualify after 5 years of the sentence and no other arrest, is this true for the state of Indiana?

    Default Indiana Expungement Law

I understand Indiana to have limited "expungement" options, following a guilty plea or verdict:

    * Seeking a pardon which, if successfully obtained, provides a basis for expungement by "wiping out the guilt"; or

    * Applying with the State Police to have a record sealed, with the application to be made not less than fifteen years following completion of sentence.

Default Expungement of felony or sentece reduction/modification

    Hi,

I have two Felonies and was sentenced to prison in 1985. I was released in 1987. At the time of sentencing I was 21 yrs old. The felony charges are credit card fraud and burglary, which I pleaded guilty to and received sentencing.
Since being released from prison 18 yrs and one month ago I have been a model citizen and never in any type of trouble. In order to advance in the job market thsoe two felonies are making it impossible to go up the ladder. I have always been very truthful to employers as I think that is always best. I still feel I am serving out a sentence for those crimes committed 20 yrs or so ago.
If I apply for records to be sealed by the State Police and that is granted, who can access those records? Would I be able to get a State License for selling Real Estate? I have worked in two real estate offices since my release in 1987. My one goal is to have a career in real estate. In order to be licensed you cannot have a felony conviction.
If there is a way to modify an old sentence from a felony to a misdemeanor or seal the records where no one has access, then I would be most greatful in knowing. It would change my life completely and I would finally be really free at last.
Sorry for rambling but I am truly in need of any help possible.

    Default Licensing

I would suggest contacting the licensing board to see if you would qualify for a license if your record was sealed, or if you would have to obtain a pardon.
