Default Ex-Boyfriend's Financial Responsibilities
I moved out of my ex b/f's house after being with him for 6 years. I recently found out I am pregnant with his child. He wants me to have an abortion. I refuse to do that. I know he will be responsible for child support, but can I sue him for medical and other expenses accrued during my pregnancy? South Dakota

Default Re: Ex-Boyfriend's Financial Responsibilities
You can attempt to recover a portion of the costs from him, but you share responsibility for those costs:
Quoting South Dakota Codified Laws, Sec. 25-8-3. Father and mother's liability for confinement expense.
The father and mother of a child born out of wedlock are jointly and severally liable to pay the expenses of the mother's pregnancy and confinement.
