This is my very first post here, I did a quick search & found things similar to my situation but my question was still not answered.
I live in NJ. At my place of work, we have a limited amount of parking that is marked 3hr parking mon-friday 8am-6pm. We have always had a little deal with the PD that they don't come to our lot because the staff parks in the lot all day. Every staff member has a sticker in their rear windshields indicating that they are staff and the Parking Enforcement officer knows of this and it has never been a problem.
Then as the weather started getting nicer, parking became more of a problem because right behind our building is a park/playground and people park in our [i say "our", I work in a library, the lot belongs to the town and is public] lot to bring their kids to the park and whatnot. One morning, my boss was notified by the PD that Parking Enforcement would be over, so if anyone on staff didn't have a sticker in their window they should put one there before the PE officer came. So my boss made up a whole bunch of bright orange stickers saying "LIBRARY EMPLOYEE" and everyone went out and put the stickers in their back windshields as instructed. At the end of the day, I walked out to my car and low & behold I had gotten a ticket. My boss got a ticket as well and both of us had the stickers in our windows.
My boss then took both of our tickets with the intent to go to court on the date & fight it since we are town employees and we were allowed to be parked in the lot. She missed the court date & called the municipal building & they told her to speak with the PE Officer, who is denying we had the stickers in our windshields. That is the first issue.
The second issue is, I looked at my ticket yesterday & the PE Officer wrote down my license plate wrong. I have a custom plate ARMAGDN (part of my "stage" name) and she wrote it down ARMAGON. What should be a "d", she wrote as an "o". And it's clearly an O, no chance of it being a D at all. The only other identifying info she wrote down was the make of the car. With my plate being custom, does that make it easier for them to still come after me even though the Officer wrote it down incorrectly? I was just wondering what happens in cases like this. Thanks in advance
