Okay. I need some real, legal, and correct advice here. I cannot find help anywhere else for this problem... even my local dss website. So here is my dillema: I am a 17 year old male. I live in North Carolina. I have a full time job and I am a full time student. I am perfectly and completely mature enough to live on my own. My mother has given me verbal permission to move out of home already. I am just afraid because I don't know the way of the law and what's right vs. what's wrong and I do not want to get in trouble. I also would prefer avoiding the court system altogether. Can I move out based on her verbal permission? My second question is if and when I do move out; Can I have my child support order modified so that I will receive my child support payments at my new address? In other words, I don't think my mother should have the right to acquire my father's child support for me when I do not reside in her home. Any help would be great. Also, I have completely made up my mind about my decision. I would prefer not to hear, "Wait til your 18!" or any related remarks. I need to take action as soon as possible and I need to know who I can contact and what the legal procedures are...? Thank you so much!
