Default Car Repossession
Hi, I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on my situation here. I had my car repossessed roughly 8 or 9 months ago. I got a copy of my credit report today, and it shows no repossession on it. It doesn't even show that I had financed a vehicle. All that is on my credit report is one debt that I am going to be paying off.
Is it odd that nearly a year after the repossession there is nothing on my credit report about it?

Also, I don't know if it makes a difference, but the whole deal was weird. This was a very small used car lot, and they had trouble finding someone that would finance me because of lack of credit. Next thing I know, they come out and tell me they found a small private bank that would do it. The thing that I always found odd though, was that I always had to make my payments to the car dealership, never to a bank. Well, when they repossessed the car, I got one phone call from the dealer that I had missed. When I tried to call them back, they kept giving me the run around, saying the person I needed to talk to was never available. Finally they told me to leave my number and they would get back to me, but I never heard from the dealership again. I had talked to me parents, and they were kind of questioning how legal this car deal was. So I thought I would come here and see what you guys thought.

Oh, I almost forgot, this is all taking place in California.

There is no reason that a lender has to report anything to a credit reporting agency.

I suspect that their deception is playing a role in their decision not to pursue the debt.

Well, I am aware that they don't have to report anything if they don't want to, I just found it kind of unusual that they didn't. Don't credit reports usually show when a vehicle has been financed though? Sorry, I'm really kind of clueless when it comes to this stuff. I just thought that as soon as you financed a vehicle, something went on your credit showing that you had done so.

It is unusual, certainly, but so was their conduct in pretending that they had found a lender then accepting the payments themselves.
