    Exclamation Stolen vehicle as UUMV

I need help. I broke up with my boyfriend Thursday and he came back and stole my truck yesterday morning at 10am. It's still gone and I filed a report. The police dept. woudln't let me file a stolen vehicle because he's had permission to drive it before. But his time he had to break in through and window and it starts without a key so he took off. I know where he is (three hours away) and the town he's in won't do anything because it's not listed as stolen. Why did they even want me to file a report? And how am I supposed to get it back without transportation? The police won't even have it towed off. I don't think it's fair that just because he's driven it before, he can take it anytime and I have no rights. By the way, EVERYTHING is in my name and he's been drinking since he left and I SURELY hope he doesn't kill any innocent people. The cops also said that if they ran the tag when they pulled him over the UUMV wouldn't even show up! Someone please help!

    Default Problem with Stolen Vehicle

If the officer at the desk won't take a report, ask to speak to a supervisor. If that doesn't work, and you're dealing with a local police agency, try a different police agency with concurrent jurisdiction (e.g., if the town police won't help, try the County Sheriff or State Police).

    Default Yay!

I checked with the supervisor of the station where he's at and they towed it to the police station but didn't impound it. So we'll only have to pay a $50 towing fee. I'm so relieved it wasn't wrecked or he didn't kill anyone. Thanks so much for the advice! I thought I had no other options. The towing fee is not alot to pay considering what could have happened.

    Default Fixing the Ignition

    That's good news.

I think you should also look into fixing the ignition, so he can't steal it again.

    Default

That's what I'm going to do next. My dad has already fixed the back window so it doesn't open from the outside. Or I may just get another car that has a very loud alarm!
