My mother is 80 y/o and is in early stages of dementia plus she is incontinent and has partial paralysis on one side due to a previous stroke. She lives in Arkansas with my brother who is into heavy drugs and at this time there is no water or gas in the home. A few elderly relatives (her brother and sister) live in the same town and have reported to me and my sister (me in Mississippi and my sister in Texas) that there is no food in the house most of the time and that her mental state is getting worse.
My sister would like to get guardainship of her and move her to Texas but she won't sign or go willing. My brother has sold almost everything in the house and takes her checks (medicare) and any cash we give her.
Neither my sister have money for expensive lawyers but are willing to borrow or whatever we can but have no idea on where to start. We have tried to talk to her doctor but due to the HEPA laws they won't give us any information. We are at our wits end and are desperate on how to get her out of the enviroment she is in. To be honest we are afraid of my brother to just go in and try to leave with her.
Please help us with any information on where to go, start or whatever we need to do, we are desperate.
Betty
