    Question Emancipation Laws North Carolina

I will be 17 in less than 3 weeks. I have been told by many people that you don't really need to go through the emancipation process..that all you had to do was tell them you're leaving and where you're going, then they couldn't cast you as a runnaway because they knew you were leaving and where you would be... but I haven't brought myself to take that path yet, out of fear of my guardians. I don't live with my mom and dad. My Grandparents gained Soul Custody of me when I was 2. Would this have any effect in the situation at all?? I would like to move out and have wanted to for a long time. I would like to go live with my bio-dad or my boyfriend. Both of which have their own place and could help support me. I also have a full-time job but it will drop down to part-time when school starts. I will be finishing high school in Jan. I am graduating a semester early. Do you forsee any problems with going through the emancipation process?? Do my grandparents have to agree to it or can I get around that??
