Default Adding Father To The Birth Certificate
I have been trying to find answers for a weeks to these questions. So far this site has been very helpful. So here it goes.

I want to add my 7 week old daughter's father to her birth certificate. At the time of her birth we were separtated in different states. She lives in Ohio and I am in Michigan at the moment. I am moving back to Ohio the end of August. I have a Child Support court date Aug 22 and wonder if I would have to attend since I will be moving later that month with him. I called my caseworker and I guess she didn't understand and told me he would either have to attend or have a teleconference. He never received any mailing containing anything about the case. So I am confused. And I am most likely confusing you too. So my question is:\

If he signs that paper to claim her as his will his name be added to the bc? If we do that what would that cost. ANd could I change her last name ( I was misinformed at her birth thinking that because he wasn't there I could give her his name.) And how much would that cost?

Also since I am moving in with him and we are planning marriage soon would the child support case be dropped? OR just delayed? Or would I still have to attend the court? Thank you so much!! and sorry if I confused you

As you were told in your other thread, you and the father can sign and file an affidavit of parentage. If the state is pursuing child support because you are receiving public assistance, you should assume that they will want reimbursement via a child support order against the father.

Question Re: Adding Father To The Birth Certificate
so that doesn't matter that we will be living together and getting married? Yes I was getting medical help through the government. Does that mean that they will charge him support anyways? or like the caseworker said they will just wait and see? Will they charge him administive costs? And thank you for the previous answer.

If you are collecting state benefits, they will want reimbursement. You can ask them the specifics of what they will seek to recover.
