Default Collection of Condo Fees
when i bought my condo 13 months ago, apparently i had to pay the condo fees the first day of the month i moved in, but i didn't know due to the extremely bad managment of theis company the never informed the 'how to' ( ithoug it was included in closing cost...). The management never send me a note, i pay all my bills religiously every month (they do not send statements)...and 13 months laters i get a 'past due note' with no explanation of items, why I owe, what i owe, nothing. When i asked the detail, i see it due to the 'unpaid' condo fees for the month i moved in. My question is...can they claim this after 13 months of silence? I am asking all the questions, as for why they never contacted me before...Any advice? THis wouldn't had happen if they contacted me immediatly.

Default Late Bill for Condo Fee
Do I understand that you are not disputing that you owe the money, but are objecting to the thirteen month delay in billing you?

It was my understanding that the first HOA fee was included in my settlement, i have to track that back. But yes, even if I owe the money (due to honest mistake, misscommunication, etc), 13 months seem a bit to long to try to collect late fees...I realized that this is a bit more complex than me missing a payment. The company that manages the condominium is a disaster...
I guess my basic question is: is there an 'expiration time' to clame a debt? Or I can come after 10 years to someone and say "you owe me'?
