Default Domestic Battery & Assault charges
I was charged with false imprisonment, domestic battery and assault. The false imprisonment charge was dropped and now I only have the domestic battery and assault charges left. There were was no signs of physical injury and my accuser has told two completely different accounts from the arrest affidavit/restraining order

I'm using a public defender because I dont have funds to afford a private attorney. The accuser has a history of lying seeing that the individual was arrested for insurance fraud. But atm i'm unable to speak to my public defender til I enter my plea.

I live in the state of florida and am wondering at what am I looking at in terms of jail time or conditions that I may be facing also I have no history of violence on my record and would like to plea out to get on with my life but do not feel I deserve a felony battery/assaultcharge on my record any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated

Why won't your lawyer speak to you? Is this a private attorney who has been appointed to represent you, or a public defender's office?

I'm out on bail and they never gave me the info to who my lawyer is and when I call the number for the public defenders all they tell me is that I will be able to speak to an attorney when I get to court to enter my plea

Default Getting an Appointment
Try being more assertive with the receptionist, and explain that you need to speak with your attorney in advance of the court hearing.
