Default Re: Vehicle repossesion help
Hi- not quite sure if im using this forum right but I have a question or two i need advice on----
my names Jon and I live in California,
about 2 years ago i sold a house i owned and used some of the equity to build a custom motorcycle- I gave a cash down payment of $20,000 for the parts but financed the dmv tax,tag and title fees thru a local credit union so therefor the credit union obviously has a lien on it, a very small interest compared to what i have in the bike but still a legal lein- anyway after a few payments on this small loan I sort of kinda, a little...........ok i wont lie i took off like an outlaw and never made another payment for a year and a half now. Well recently I got into some small legal trouble and the bike had to be towed and impounded-the credit union found out and came and repossessed my chopper while i was in jail, my question is ... they have approx at best 25% interest in my bike and i own the rest, what are my chances and rights to get my bike back???
thank u in advance for your time
chopper Jon

Contact the lender and see what sort of payment arrangement would be required to recover the motorcycle. They will likely want the debt paid in full, along with your paying the repo fee.

You will most likely be able to pay off the full amount of the loan to recover the vehicle, plus any storage and penalty fees that were in your contract. However, the clock is ticking, and they will become owners of the vehicle in time if you do not pay them the full amount. (in Georgia this time limit is 30 days.)
