    Default Teenager Shoplifting at Meijer

My son who is a teenager recently told me that he shoplifts at meijer and other chain stores, but mostly meijer.

he tells me how he takes the products, hides them under clothing, and opens them in the dressing room.

he acts very confident and told me this method will surely not get him caught because they dont really see him hide the merchandise.

i would like to know the consequences for him if he does get caught for the first time, if he can get in trouble for just entering the store because he thinks they suspect him of stealing in the past, and if his method really does prevent him from being caught.

    thank you.

reguardless of what he does in the store in say 2006 he cant be prosecute simply for entering in 2007. they will probally watch him hard though.

his method doesnt prevent him from getting caught, well it does but its not like its a legal loophole, he simply was not spotted..

if he brags in court he stole yet wasn't seen that want invalidate the theft..

He has been lucky yes he is comitting theft an dhis method is as old as time. The LP at this store must be asleep. If hes caught he will be arrested and charged with theft. Afterwards he can expect court and

    fines
    probabtion
    community service
    possible ban from retailer

This along with Civil Demand (outside of court and Civil matter) with demands of monies nearing $1000.00 in some states. Now heres the bad part all fines and Civil Demand are yours to pay if hes a minor.

Your method does not prevent you from getting caught. Remember, there are LP out their smarter than you, better than you and willing to do what it takes to bust you for shoplifting. Retail store employees don't take kindly to people who steal from their stores.

My suggestion to you is that you stop stealing before you get caught. If you don't, your next thread on this board will be asking advice on how to get "out" of your shoplifting charge.

Fitting rooms are not a theft safe zone, you can be busted there.

Let me add this to mix. 1 out of every 11 shoplifters is caught. The ratio for clean gt away is good however the more you do this the better the odds of getting caught. As LPCap stated fitting rooms are not theft free zones. In fact there are stores and LP's who focus on fitting rooms more than anything else. I would go as far as to say that a futting room stop is much easier than a floor concealment case, Its very simple.

    . Subject selects merchandise
. Subject conceals merchandise on person or hides it
. Subject enters Fitting room with merchandise
. Subject leaves Fitting room no merchandise is seen with him
. Fitting room is check no merchandise inside
. Conculsion subject still has merchandise
. Result subject is stopped leaving store with merchandsie and arrested

If the LP's find the empty package, that is a guaranteed bust.

You will get caught. It might not be today, tomorrow or the next day but it will happen if you continue to steal with any frequency.

also a lot of stores will let the LP stop the subject before they enter the fitting room if they have concealed merchandise on thier persons or bags, etc. And in most states and court systems that is retail theft! why you ask? because he had the intent to steal and proved it with his concealment

hell sometimes you just cant get a buggy though.

To the topic starter I don't know what a "Meijer" is. But are you under the belief that because its a dressing room cameras cant be there or security cant enter?
