I received deferred adjudication in 1996 for a forgery by passing charge. I served two years probation and finished my probation in 1999 and was issued an order of termination and dismissal. I was recently fired from a job because they conducted a background check and found this information out. My lawyer told me that after I served my probation this would be taken off my record. Can I file for expungement for this or do I need to file a petition for non disclosure? I am in Texas and desperately need to do something about this I have a bachelors and in the process of getting my masters and don't want anything else standin in my way. Please advise.
