Unhappy Public Intoxication Arrest Resulting In A Night In Jail

I was reading up on some trouble I have recently got myself into. I was issued a citation in Rockwall County for a Public Intox on June 23. I had to spend the night in jail and was released the next day $250 lighter. They told me I had 10 days to contact the court which I did last Thursday on the 28th. I went up there and they had not processed my citation. I was told to call back on Monday. Well Monday July 2nd rolls around and I call and speak to a clerk at the court. They still haven't processed my citation and was told to give it another week. She seemed to want to encourage me to go to court and told me to call back and ask for her after the citation is processed and she will talk to me more about it. Well I know it's a Class C misdemeanor and the officer said it won't affect me getting job but the clerk said it could. I was told I don't need to go to court and I could set up for Deferred Adjudication. Problem is I'm on a contract to perm job and when I go perm I'm not sure if they will give me another background check as the Temp company has already done so. This will happen probably in the next 3-4 months. If I do the Deferred Adjudication option, will it still show up as pending litigation? I know if I do Deferred Adjudication I can get it expunged but what about the arrest? I guess basically what I'm asking is how do I keep my job in case of a background check and what can I do to minimize this mess on my perm record? I'm stupid for putting myself in the situation to get to the point of going to jail. My job is very very important to me and I would really like to keep it when the perm placement comes around.

I think I recall Carl recently saying that public intox charges are oftentimes dropped; maybe he'll respond.

Well, in California they frequently are dropped. I can't speak for Texas, however.
