hi,
i'm an international student. 2 yrs back i enrolled at penn state for graduate studies. to finance my education i opted for a private loan.

unfortunately i was not able to graduate and had to return to my home country. my student loan ($70,000) has gone into default and the collection agencies are contacting me. they got my int'l number (!!) ..

do i have any rights here .. my life has been really tight as i was not able to graduate .. jobs have been hard and not to mention the fact that i'm not earning in dollars.

can legal action be taken against me .. how bad can the implications be ..how can i contest it if i'm not residing in america?

your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Whether or not legal action could be taken against you in your home country depends on the laws of your country.
