    Default Frozen Bank Account

The collection firm of wolpoff & abramson froze my fathers bank account over a debt that is unknown by him.

He recieves his social security in this account and it is his only source of income.

It is my understanding it is against the law to hold SSI if it is your only source of income, we notified W&A but they hav'nt released it.

Can the bank release the account voluntarily if it is used for ssi.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The bank & the court will need proof that all income is exempt before the bank will release the freeze. Contact the court clerk, usually an exemption needs to be filed with the court.

It seems from your post your father's SS is direct deposited into his bank acct. If he was receiving a check, he could cash it & not deposit any of the money into the acct.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
