Getting A Driver's License With An Arrest Warrant

I have a friend who has an arrest warrant in one state(GA) for a misdemeanor and is trying to get his license in another(MD). If he passes, will he be able to get his license in this new state?? Or is an FTA on a misdemeanor a strong enough offense to be expodited back to the state(GA) where he committed the crime?

It depends. Basically all he can do is to try to get his license in the new state. If it is suspended in another state and both states are members of the interstate compact then he will probably have to straighten out the problem in the initial state before he can obtain another license in the new state. A warrant per se would not cause a suspension--however if it was for an FTA on a traffic violation then I would expect it would be suspended.

Also, generally misdemeanors are crimes for which a person can be extradited but in this time of limited resources you do not see people extradited very often for misdemeanors.

Thanks for the information. However, his license is not suspended based on the fact that he's never had one before. The charge was theft of liquor as a minor and never showed up for court with more charges of "being drunk in public",and giving false information.
