Default Receiving Workers Comp But Got A New Job Offer

Hello and thanks for any help,

I have been on workers comp for a knee injury that happened while working. I am having surgery on May 22. The problem lies in the fact that a new job offer has come up that I applied for several months ago. This new position is what I would consider my "dream job”. I have already decided that I will be taking the new job and informed the new employer that I will be having knee surgery and would not be able to start until 1 week after the surgery. My questions are … is there any law that would stop me from quitting the current job? If I do change jobs will the workers comp insurance still cover the physical therapy?

What should I do to make this work out best for me in the end without breaking any laws
BTW i am working in Texas

You aren't indentured to a job merely because you are collecting workers' comp. You should not have a problem changing jobs and continuing your medical benefits.
