Effect of Vacation During Transfer On H1B Status

Hi, I'm currently holding an H1B and am transferring it to another company, both in California. My question is that since my start date at the second company is several months away, can I leave my job after the transfer has been approved and take a vacation until my start date with the other company?

There is no clause on whether I can quit my first job weeks/months before my start at company B. I'm asking the question since technically during the vacation I'm not being employed or paid (in between jobs) and most of the rules for the H1 visa points to being employed and paid to be "in status".

If this is what you're asking, the conventional wisdom is not to travel outside of the U.S. while an H1B transfer is pending. Will your new employer accommodate you, perhaps, by giving you an earlier start date followed by a period of unpaid leave for your vacation?
