Default Is Deferred Disp Indicated in Background Checks

Okay, I had a class C misdemeanor for theft under $50 in TX in 2006 and successfully completed deferred disposition so there is no conviction. I'm planning on applying to grad. school in a few months, which require background checks. So if there is no conviction, does this mean it's not on my record? or will they find out that I did deferred for a theft charge and it's dismissed? If so, should I get it expunged? I'm so scared I'll never get into grad. school now or even do work with the govt.

There is no 100% gurantee someone will not find an arrest record or something regardless of what you do. It dpends on the type of background check and whos running it
