    Angry Unequal Child Support

My B/F just got custody of his biological son and his adopted son almost two years ago. We live in Oklahoma and it seems as if the laws were made specifically for women. Since he has had his children he has not gotten any child support even after the court decreed that she pay. After custody was granted to him they were still garnishing his checks for child support. He went to the court house and tried to get it to stop but since the system here is unconnected, it took months before they stopped. The money that was given to her was never returned. They have not garnished her check because they do not know where she works at. They also assumed what her gross income was for the month and calculated a small child support payment on her behalf of $247 for both children. She has not payed a payment yet. He was told by an attorney to contact his social worker to get the amount revised but to his surprise no one knows who his case worker is. Also the system is saying that he owes back child support but he has paid for the kids since she filed plus they charged him for back child support from when both him and the mother were together because she claimed he did not support them. It is getting ridiculous because every time he gets the run around from the system about why he has not gotten his support. Is there anything he can do to make them do their job or can he file a complaint to get his case resolved. The average time frame for support with women in Oklahoma is 3-6 months and they get their money the same month.

Doesn't sound like the system is geared towards women...just sounds like the system is broken (just like it is in every other state).

Not geared towards women????? My ex and I have been to court like 8 times over modification issues in the last three years. She has filed 5 times, I haved filed 3. Each time she filed, she had a court date within 2 or 3 weeks. Each time I filed, I had to wait 2 to 3 months.....so you tell me.

Another good example is my brother who paid his ex $1,600 a month in support, and when he got custody of the kids he was awarded $50 a month. To top it off, she did not even show up for the hearing, nor has she paid one dime since, and that was a year ago.

Girl I so feel ya!!! It's funny to hear from women that receive the child support, they feel that the whole system is unfair this that and the other. But for us women that are on the other end the system is for for the women!!! It's not dad friendly at all. Even to the good ones that pay there money every month. My husband was 2 weeks late this past month do to money issues out of our hands and he just didn't have the money. Well gues what.....He was served papers just 2weeks of being late. And this is a woman that doesn't work and lives off this money. How about the dead beat moms get a job!!!!

Well when a woman that receives child support gets on this forum and responds maybe you can find it funny, because I have received all of $25 in 11 years. I'm just not whining about it. I made the decision to have a baby, I'm dealing with the decision I made, whether I like it or not. The system sucks, but I don't believe that it's necessarily geared toward one sex or the other (especially since I work for the courts), I see it everyday.

All I can say is pick who you have kids with better, or don't get involved with folks who already have kids, then you don't have to worry about the support issue. In the case of the OP, it's not even her husband she's worried about it's just a boyfriend. If the situation he's in isn't conducive to you, leave.
