Default Crossing state lines with a minor
Hi recently I'm taking a trip outta state. I live in indiana and I will be going to new york for vaction to see my dad. The situation I'm in is I want to see if a minor can leave indiana and come with me to new york for vacation. The reason is because this minor has had such a rough life childhood I thought it be nice to take this person with me to get away from things. I known them for a long time growing up. Now I talked it over with their parents and they said that it was okay but what I need to know is if its legally okay for me to do so. The person is 15 which makes them a minor and I'm 21 so I'm the adult. Is there anything I should be aware about. I know that I'd be responsible for the minor so I'd have to watch them carefully but other than that is there anything? Thank you

Default Crossing State Lines with Minor
I'm assuming this is an entirely platonic relationship.

There's no reason why a minor can't go on a vacation with a family friend - many families take along a playmate for a child when they vacation. You would benefit from having some form of signed authorization or limited power of attorney, so you can document that the child is with you with permission from the parents, and such that you can obtain emergency medical care for the child if something happens.

Yep ty. It is just a friendly visit to new york. I was just concerned that I never been in this situation before and wasn't sure if it was legal. Thank you for your reply.
