    Default New landlady increasing rent

The new landlady is asking to increase the rent from $475.00/month to $575.00 effective August 1st. The lease signed in March was for 1 year at $475.00/month. She gave me notice of this increase on July 25th. I am renting in New York state. I am wondering if she can raise the rent so much with so little notice when I have a signed lease

    Default Rent Increase

The lease sets a $425 rent for the entire duration of the lease, with no provision for increases?

Yes, $475.00 for the duration of the lease (signed with the previous landlady) and no provisions for increases.

    Default Lease

Normally, then, she would not be able to increase the rent until the end of the lease.
