    Unhappy Virginia Emancipation qualifications?

I am fourteen and i live in Virginia. For the past five or six months i have been considering emancipation. However, i do no know if i meet the qualifictaions for the state for Virginia. My situation at home os one of the main reasons for my wish to be emancipated. My mom and stepfather fight constantly, and i am always dragged into the fights and blamed. Is there anyway possible i could be get emancipated without there knowing? the reason i ask this is if they found out i was trying to be emancipated i would get beaten. I am afraid to leave the house because my stepdad always says that if i leave i better not come home because if i do there wont be much left of me to leave again. My situation has gotten to where I am ready to pack my stuff and walk out the door. However i do not want to do that because that would'nt be legal. Is there anyways i couldnt be emancipated without my parents knowing?

The only state to allow someone as young as you to emancipate is California!

Quoting Virginia Code § 16.1-331. Petition for emancipation.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any minor who has reached his sixteenth birthday and is residing in this Commonwealth, or any parent or guardian of such minor, may petition the juvenile and domestic relations district court for the county or city in which either the minor or his parents or guardian resides for a determination that the minor named in the petition be emancipated. The petition shall contain, in addition to the information required by § 16.1-262, the gender of the minor and, if the petitioner is not the minor, the name of the petitioner and the relationship of the petitioner to the minor.

It would appear as your answer is no

I just wonder at 14 or 15 how you think you would be able to make sufficient money to support yourself without even a high school diploma (which even today is starting to not be enough)?

Well nevertheless, good luck to you. I guess 9.50 is a lot more out there than it is out here. Just remember to pursue your education no matter what you ultimately decide to do.

You would need to work full time to support yourself which would mean no school! that would not work but its a non point as the law does not allow you to emancipate at your age
