Default The laws surrounding a paternity test before the mother gives birth
Hello,

My stepbrother found out a couple of months ago that his girlfriend (now ex) is pregnant. I guess there's some question as to whether the baby is even his. He really wants to find out if he is the father as soon as possible this way if he isn't he can completely sever ties with this girl. But if he is the father he wants to take responsibility. Living in Massachusetts what are his rights in getting a paternity test (the girl is refusing to let him be anywhere near her or the baby regardless of if he is the father)? And can one be done before she gives birth?
Thanks

No...The method to DNA test before birth can be risky to the baby and is very painful and invasive to the mother. When the baby is born your brother would have to file for Paternity. If he is found to be daddy, he can then establish Custody/Visitation/childsupport.
