Default Can They Freeze My Bank Account Without Notice
I live in New York and my account was frozen due to my wifes old credit card debt. Can they do this without ever attempting to contact me or my wife even when we know that they have all the corect contact info? Also when they freeze it does that mean that they can take the money out of it or just not allow us access to it?

You didn't know about the old credit card debt? You didn't know about the collection lawsuit and judgment?

So you were sued, your debt settlement company (stupidly and wrongly) told you to ignore the lawsuit, and now there's a judgment against you?

You (your wife) probably ignored a summons & court date & they got a default judgment against you (your wife). There are good & bad debt settlement cos. out there - it looks like you might have gotten a bad one. Since they have a judgment, yes they can freeze bank accts. If the debt/judgment is in your wife's name only, they can still freeze jt. accounts.

Freezing the bank acct. - that's what they do after they get a judgment.
