    Default Failure to Attend School

Heyy everybody I was wondering if I could get some help. I just recently got a summons for a hearing about skipping school. My mom is pretty pissed to say the least and I was wondering what they could possibly do. I plan on telling the judge about my grades and how I'm in the top 10% of my graduating class with a 4.0 GPA. It's just one class I hate going to because all you do is sit there on the computer (Computer Science). Even with all the skipping, I've maintained a high B average in that class. Does the judge take into consideration of my performance in school. I also do a lot of charity work (team captain for Relay for Life) and have already been accepted into a good college with the prospect of getting a full scholarship. Any help on what the judge will possibly do in my situation would be great.

    Thanks!

I wish I had an answer for you, but I have no idea how a judge might rule on your situation. Hopefully someone on this forum will have some guidance for you. But, please let us know how this turns out for you.

Yeah...I'm pretty freaked out because I've never had a problem like this in my life. I do know it's defined as a class C misdemeanor but other than that I'm pretty clueless

Why would the judge put me into academy probation when my grades are good? Hell, I could of graduated last year! I don't know why I wasted another year in High School. In fact, all my classes are unrequired for graduation. I'm only taking 3 and those are AP Calculus, AP Computer Science, and AP Biology. I have a perfectly clean record with not so much as a traffic ticket. Thanks for the reply but pertaining to my case your response made no sense. The possibilities are, in my opinion, either community service or a fine (up to $500). I want to know what I can say to the judge to where I look good enough to either dismiss the case or pay maybe a fine of a $100. I know dismissing the case is a long shot considering I did mess up but there's only 2 more months left of high school and all I want is a little leniency.

Could your habitual truancy, visits to juvenile hall, and juvenile probation be playing a role in your troubles at home? Maybe if you clean up your act, Dad will be less verbally hostile to you.

well, i wouldn't say i have a habitual truancy problem because I've never had a problem like this in my life. I'd rather not spend 2 days in cell but i don't mind the community service. I'm hoping it's just a $200 ticket.

I have been recently asked to appear in court for a hearing for this offense, its set for April 4, witch is in about a week or so. Ive got nothing to boast for, grades range from A to C, and my attendance was sloppy throughout all my classes. I have recently changed the way i wake up, and stuff....but none of my un-excused absences are for a good reason, i just didn't feel like going to school.....What should I do?
