Default Getting sued for credit card debt
My Father & Mother are in there eighties and have 4 credit card that come to about $55,000.00 and they paid the payments until Dec of 2004 & my Father got a $29.00 dollar Debt Elimination Kit and stop paying the Cards. They always had A1 Credit and they just could not pay because of the 28%, &32%, interest rates they were paying for all the cards about $1200.00 a month and 99 percent of that was interest. Now one of the Card Company has a Judgement against them for $15,000.00 and I do not think the other are far behind. They only have there home and the social security they get every month mother gets $355.80 and my Father gets $601.80. that come to $957.60. My Father get his medical free from the VA but my mother has a $172.00 insurance bill every month and medication that cost $215.00 every month. I help them out but I can not pay off the credit cards I can come up with about $12,000.00 cash now but that would only give each card $4,000.00. That is all I can come up with.
If any one know how they can help me I would really appreciate it. I need legal advice and I need it now.
Thank you for your time in a very busy day

Default Out of Control Credit Card Debt
I am wondering what sort of $29 "debt elimination kit" suggested that your father could somehow stop paying his credit cards without consequence. He may have had good credit up to that point, but probably not any more.

With the amount of credit card debt at issue, and the limited income available to pay the debt, your parents should consult with a bankruptcy lawyer.
