    Question Defamation, Slander & Libel

Hi, we live in Maryland and my son attends a catholic shool. My husband coaches two sport teams there.
    My question is:
With the last sign up a couple of 'trouble makers' decided to complain and 'rebel rouse' about my husband for what ever reason.
Of course none of these people have the back bone to say anything to his or my face.
I recently found out that a few of these people went in front of the Home School Association at the school and told flat out lies. Now, we haven't 'formally' been informed of anything and my husband still has a team.
As you can imagine these people on 'the board' all talk and I'm sure it'll be a matter of time before all of this is the next rumor mill.
The 'board' as also made it clear that friends of ours are also being 'thrown in our category' because we are friends outside the school.
Can we sue the individuals & the school for defamation, slander & libel? Or do we just have to sit back and take it?
We pay alot of money to send our son there, and in the long run I don't want him to have to deal with this.
    Please give suggestions.
    Thank you!!

You can sue for anything you want. It will probably cost you more money to sue than you could hope to win. As you have not stated any facts, nobody here can guess as to whether you have a valid cause of action.

What did they say? There is no way to know if you could possibly have been defamed without knowing the nature of the lies.
