    Default Emancipation

im 17 and i got my lisense turned into the DMV by my parents a few weeks ago because i got a ticket. They didnt realize when they did it that it would have HUGE repercussions on my atheltics and my education. My parents are unwilling to make the cummute (because i have four younger siblings that they need to devote their attention and time to) to my HIGHLY competitive swim team which i was counting on to get me a scholarship to college. They also are unwilling to make the commute to my chemistry and histroy and calculus tutors and my indoor track team. Now that they realize the consequences that this will have on my future, they are willing to make a petition for emancipation on my behalf so i can claim my lisense and make myself the best that i can be.

Do you think that the courth will approve out petition for emancipation for these reasons? I know that this is an unorthodox reason and am petitioning for emancipation by default, but i was wondering if you had any advice on how to help me get my case approved. thank you!

    Default Re: emancipation

Quoting Virginia Code § 16.1-331. Petition for emancipation.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any minor who has reached his sixteenth birthday and is residing in this Commonwealth, or any parent or guardian of such minor, may petition the juvenile and domestic relations district court for the county or city in which either the minor or his parents or guardian resides for a determination that the minor named in the petition be emancipated. The petition shall contain, in addition to the information required by § 16.1-262, the gender of the minor and, if the petitioner is not the minor, the name of the petitioner and the relationship of the petitioner to the minor.
