Post Confessing a Crime After Somebody Else was Convicted

Hi, 4 years ago my boyfriend and I were inside a stolen vehicle and we got arrested. I was charged with misdemeanor trespassing (I was on the passengers seat) but the case was dropped and he was charged with theft (he was on the driver's seat). The thing is: I am the one who stole the car and I parked it a few blocks away from my house. When I told that to my boyfriend he decided to drive the car back to the place where I stole it from but the cops were just waiting for someone to get inside the car and as soon as we turned the car on we got arrested. I was 4 months pregnant and I didnt say anything... neither did him, so he got the blame. He posted bail, got a lawyer but when he thought he was going to get convicted he ran. The car was worth around $ 75.000,00.
If I go to a police station and confess will they drop charges against him?? Maybe to a misdemeanor trespassing??? And remove his warrant???
What would happen to me? I had never been arrested before or commited a crime, would I still get convicted and have to serve time? This happened in Chicago, Illinois.

Someone please help. I really cant afford a lawyer and I feel terribly sorry that someone is suffering because of me.

After four years, it's going to be difficult for the prosecutor to take your change of heart seriously. I believe the statute of limitations has run on their trying to charge you with the offense, which would increase their skepticism. Before you go confessing to any crimes, consult a criminal defense lawyer.
