    Default Teens Wish To Marry

I am 17 years old and I live in Colorado, And my17 year old fiance lives in Texas. I want to go up there and live with him but my dad and I am sure that my mom don't want me to leave the state. I am very responsible in many different ways I clean house all the time, I make dinner sometimes for my dad and I make sure he gets the bills payed and I babysit off and on to help pay for the house. I want to go live with my fiance and be happy making my own decisions cause I have to be the parent to my dad. I am very capable for taking care of myself and I so am going to go to high school still and go to college. If I did leave without my parents permission and got married down in Texas and proved that I can manage would that give me the ok to be emancipated without their approval?

Default Wants to Move Out at 17

If you're 17, you're months away from being a legal adult. Have you considered riding out the year?

In a CRIMINAL proceeding, a 17 year old is considered an adult and is charged, tried and sentenced as an adult. In CIVIL matters, you do not become an adult until you are 18. I know it sounds confusing, but it helps to protect the parents. If a 17 year old commits a crime the parents cannot be held liable for any fines and/or restitution ordered by the judge.
