Arrest warrant

kansas- my husband was arrested for a warrant for a bad check. when the officer came to the door he just told him he had a warrant and had to arrest him. he didnt show him any paperwork or offer to , he just cuffed him and put him in the car, no rights read. and then he ran his DL# and it came back negative for any warrants but the officer told him "well, i know you have one because i saw it down there". does this sound like the appropriate conduct for being arrested for a warrant for a check that was $37? shouldn't they have papers for that stuff? the only papers he got all night were his bond papers

The police very rarely have an arrest warrant in hand. All that is required is that the warrant exist and/or the officer has a reasonable belief that there exists a valid warrant for the arrest of the subject.

If the jail booked him, apparently there WAS a warrant. Perhaps the warrant had not yet been entered into the local computer system.
