Uttering and publishing

hello, I just found out thru a letter sent to a family member that i have been charged with 750.248a Uttering and publishing for a bad check under 1000.00 I no longer live in michigan, but moved to wi 5 months ago, this check was supposely written in june or july of last year. Any ideas on how to get this taken care of. also will michigan tell wi to come get me and be taken back, or can i just turn myself in here and see what happens and do the sentence here. thanks

It's possible that, if you are located, Michigan would seek to extradite you. If they have an interstate warrant for you and you turn yourself in locally, they would act on the warrant. If not, they will likely tell you that you have to turn yourself in back in Michigan.

If you have family connections to Wisconsin, you may be able to transfer your probation to Wisconsin but should expect to serve your sentence in Michigan. If you have no priors it's unlikely that you would be sentenced to any appreciable jail time, and quite possibly to no jail at all.

thanks for the reply I talked to the DA office today, they told me to contact the reporting party, and if i can work a plan out, the charges would be dropped. also asked on the possiblity of being sought out and took back to MI and was told slim to none. I will try to work it out, and be in contact with the DA office. just because they say i wont be picked up doent mean i wont . I have a clean record, never been arrested and gonona try to keep it that way.

The plan would probably involve paying any restitution due. If you can work something out, be sure to pay the restitution. (It should go without saying, but you would be surprised....)

Well as it stands now, I called the business and yes they will drop any charges on me if i pay what is owed, and i called the courthouse and if the business tells them its ok, the warrent will be active until i pay it off but they wont extrdie me if i get pickedup or run When its paid off i tell the courthouse, and have proof and it will be cleared thanks
