Default Never Moved In, in Michigan

My husband and I singed a lease on the 14th of this month at an appartment building. we even put down a deposit, but we never moved in. We never even stepped foot in the place. They did give us the keys to the place. My husband tried talking to the appartment manager about terminating lease because we changed our minds on the location and they are saying he has to give them a 60 day notice and until then he still has to pay the rent there. Can they do that when we never moved in and we only had the place for about three weeks? They also said that we have to pay them around 1,200 to get out of the lease.

You signed the lease, which is a contract between you and the landlord. If you cannot agree to terminate the lease, such as by paying two months rent, you can risk walking away and having them sue you for your breach of the lease agreement - but that could end up with your owing substantially more than two months rent.

There is a link on your website for attorneys that you can pre pay for 36 dollars a month and they said that we could get out of the lease without paying a thing if we hired them. Is that true if we hire a attorney they could get us out of the lease without paying because we never moved into the place and we signed the lease three weeks ago, so we haven't had the place for long?

You apparently saw a Google ad for prepaid legal services. You need to be sure that the legal services offered by the plan would cover your legal needs before you buy the plan.

I don't know who is making specific promises about what would happen if you hire them. See if they're willing to work on an arrangement where they only charge a fee, agreed upon in advance, if they get you released from the lease without penalty, or if they give you a written guarantee of a refund if they can't keep their promise.
