Default Private Health Records
May you can help me. I got hurt at work pulling on a wrench, it hurt my shoulder, I told my employer went to Dr.and before I got finished with all my visits, the workmans comp people wanted my health records. AGAINST my better judgement I gave them permission to look at my health insurance records and my general Dr.'s records. It seemed like every week they wanted to pull some other health records that had nothing to do with my shoulder injury. The last straw was when they reqested records from my cadiologist. Can they do this and what are my rights for kepting my health records private.

Default Workers' Comp for Shoulder Injury
It does seem that they are pushing things - they are probably looking for any excuse, based upon any note your doctor might have made in relation to described symptoms or pre-existing conditions, to cut you off. I would be hesitant to deny any request, though, without first consulting a workers' compensation lawyer in your state - if they can, they may try to cut you off on the basis of your refusal to provide the requested records.
