Leasing Mineral Rights

My wife inherited 1/12 of 20 sections in Texas and is interested in leasing her interest for oil & gas exploration. She has no documentation stating ownership of these mineral rights. What documentation does she need to show proof of ownership and how can she obtain this information?

Then how did she "inherit" them. There has to be some documentation or it did not happen.

Try the county register of deeds, or hire a title search service to do the work.
