Default Husband signed over house before filing for divorce, does he have a claim

    Hi,
I live in New Jersey and my husband signed the house over to me while we were married in September 2006. There is no legal contract written pertaining to the signing of the house. Now he has finally gotten around to obtaining a lawyer to divorce me. Since the house deed is in my name does he have a claim on it?
    Thanks for your help.

I would say....nope. But, you need to obtain your own attorney to adequately represent your interests in the divorce.

Why did he sign the house over to you? Did that occur after, or within the context of, separation? Is there significant equity in the home?
