Default Health Insurance versus Workers' Compensation Benefits
It is not unusual for employers to require that employees, out on disability leave, make their share of their health insurance payment under COBRA. Yes, this can impose a significant financial hardship, but that's the present nature of the U.S. health care system.

Default Workers' Comp Leave
Yes and no. I was referencing a workers' compensation leave due to disability. There are other forms of disability leave, such as FMLA leave.
