    Default Hobby Tax

If someone was involved in a hobby (such as antiquing) do you need to claim any money that is made in selling goods resulting from this?

    Default Re: Hobby Tax

Hobby income is reported on line 21 of the 1040, as "other income" and expenses related to hobby income are reported on schedule A (but only to the extent of the income).

It would be improper to report the income from "antiquing" on schedule C unless it is real self employment designed to produce a profit.
