Default Statute of Limitations For a Class Action Suit

In a multi-state class action suit how is the statute of limitations determined when statutes of limitations vary from state to state?

For a state law cause of action, by the statute of limitations for that state's law. For a federal cause of action, by the statute of limitation for the federal law.

    Thank you for your response.

I was residing in California when I received notice I was a member of a nationwide class action suit in Florida against the tobacco companies. My exposure to second-hand smoke, as a flight attendant, occurred much earlier than the 2-year statute of limitations allowed in California. How could I qualify as a member of this class action suit?

A: Ask the people who sent you the notice.
