MIP - Consumption Charge in Oregon

ok so im 19 years old and i recieved this mip for alcohol consumption (walking home from a party with a friend). i had a bac of .04 and the base fine on the ticket is 1000 dollars!!! now, i know i can get that reduced but i was wondering by how much and if anyone knew anything else that i could do to help my situation? also my friend did not recieve an mip (in fact they barely payed attention to him) and the cop wrote the court date for 1-24-06 when it is supposed to be 2007, although i dont think its just gonna disapear from that.

If you want to know what is likely to happen, ask a local lawyer or some of your friends who have already gone to court for MIP's.
