Defense Lawyer Is Not Doing His Job

i am fighting a conspiracy charge in federal court we are scheduled 2 go to trial in feb 07. my lawyer filed a few motions, then the u.s. attorney filed his response, and the judge gave us 10 days to file a response to the govt.'s response. my lawyer did not make a response and the judge denied the motions. then the judge says we have 10 days to file objections to his decision my lawyer did not file this either. how do i go about firing this cocksucker? do i go hire another lawyer 1st or do i have 2 address the courts with this matter 1st?
