Default Driver's license suspended due to old civil judgment

where to begin. i lived in indiana. i had an unpaid ticket causeing a suspended license. i got into a wreck in a company truck which was not insured. i was sued for the wreck, and although it was my bosses truck and i was told it was insured and registered, i did not pass the lawsuit on to him. i was young and foolish. i did not show up to court or even acknowledge the papers that were left on my door my the police. as it turns out my license is suspended for failure to pay the lawsuit and also for a minor ticket. i lost the physical license and now live in another state. this all happened in early 2002. now i am trying to get a license in arkansas, but i cant obviously. the fact that i dont have my license number makes it hard to find my records in indiana apparently as they fail to locate them when i call the dmv there. in arkansas they say that i have a suspension in indiana, so i have to do something. what are my options? is there anyway at some point this will just blow over and indiana will forget me thereby lifting the offenses? also i dont know which lawyer is holding my case in regards to the accident, so it may be difficult to pay that, but even if i did im too poor to pay it.

Until you take care of the situation in Indiana you will never be able to get a license. Contact the Indiana DMV as they are the only ones that can give you the information.

You can read Indiana's laws here. It appears that you would have been suspended for seven years following your failure to pay the judgment. (See IC 9-25-6-4 for the details.)

They obviously do have a record of you, as Arkansas was able to obtain the record. Try calling again.
