Question Incorrigible Teen - what happens and what does it take?
We live in Michigan. My husband and I would like to get his son declared incorrigible by the courts. What does it take to get that done and what does that really mean (what happens)? I do not want to go into a lot of detail as he has done a lot of research on the web about legal issues (emmancipation, etc.) and he could get on here. He has done a lot of things and we don't feel safe with him in our house. Or even with him out of the house - as he runs away quite often. He is completely unstable. Needless to say, we have tried many other things to help him and we have been advised to get him declared incorrigible. I cannot find anything on line about this. Help would very much be appreciated.

Here's a brief outline of the law from the Midland County courts.

Thank you. Not what I was hoping for. I was hoping that we could go to the courts and get this taken care of right away. Sounds like about a year's worth of red tape to go through. I appreciate the response.
