Confirming Florida's Age of Consent

I live in florida. I'm 18 and my girlfriend is 16. I have been reading and I'm pretty sure that it is not illegal according to the statue listed here: http://www.flsenate.gov/statutes/ind...n%2005#0794.05

Some sites on the age of consent cite this statue while others still say its illegal unless you're both 18. I'm guessing that maybe this statute is more recent so those sites havent been updated with the info.

But I am still paranoid about it. Could I still be charged? I understand I can get a restraining order against me. I just dont want to be a sex offender.

ages are 16-23. any one over 23 years of age is illegal for 17 and under. example 21 may be intimate with 16 but not 27 with 16. if you get involved with anyone 15 and under to 13 is felony. 12 and under is capital felony. do not forget certain sex acts are illegal in florida no matter what age. as current. laws can change fast. nothing is guaranteed hope this helps. oh and even if the person provides a birth certificate driver license and is sitting at a bar drinking and is known as a regular it does not matter. ignorance is no exuse. and burden of proof can be limited. be careful.
