    Angry Guardianship of a child

this is a long story, but will try to make it short. My husband and I have had full guardianship of a friends son. The grandmother came to us and askrd us to adopt him, her daughter was only 13 at the time now 15. The baby came home with us from the hospital and has resided with us since, he is 15 months old now. We have been raising him as our son and refers to us as mommy and daddy. The grandma and daughter do come visit maybe once a month for about 15-30 minutes thier choice. We have been promised and promised they were going to sign adoption papers with the latest promise to be in Jan,07. We had agreed to let grandma claim him last year on her taxes since there was not guardianship papers and did not go to court untill dec22 last year. We recentley found out that grandma and daughter are collecting medicaid and food stamps for our son. Grandma said that she can only get these things if she is allowed to claim son on her taxes, and her daughter needs medicaid. I did call the welfare office and tell them in no way should they be collecting on son and they agreed. Now I know that if we dont allow grandma to claim our son on taxes I am sure they will not sighn yet agian. I just got this feeling that if they have to lose money and any assistance they will be trying to revoke guardianship as well. How likley is this? The daughter has a lengthly juvenile record and cps has been called out on granma quite a few times. State is Indiana.

The guardianship is through the courts, or is it by virtue of a private agreement?

Is your guardianship through the court or by some private agreement? Has paternity ever been established?
You do realize now that you have gone to the Welfare department and exposed their fraud that they can come and get the child if you don't have any legal guardianship papers.

Yes the guardianship was donr through the court, mother and daughter both signed. The father is unknown after having three diffrent guys being tested. Would they not have to go through the court system and explain to them why they would want child now? Our guardianship papers state that we have guardianship and custody of child. What she is doing is just wrong.
